Everyone is talking about going green around the home these days. Maybe we should look on how some celebrity’s are helping the environment.

When we think of celebrity’s homes though, mega luxury comes to mind, not ecofriendly living. However, some stars have made serious home remodeling efforts to make their living quarters greener.

Here are a few examples.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s L.A. House

Long known for his environmental activism, that Leo’s home is ecofriendly should come as no surprise. His L.A. home is powered by solar paneling and all of his plumbing is low flow and water efficient.

Johnny Depp’s Caribbean Island

Depp bought himself a 35 acre private island in the Bahamas and is in the process of turning it into a totally self-sustaining environment, powered by solar and hydrogen power.

George Bush’s Crawford Ranch

It comes as a bit of a surprise that perhaps the greenest celebrity home of all belongs to former President George W. Bush. The President’s home is completely “off the grid”, meaning that all the energy needed in the home is generated right there. A geothermal heating and cooling system uses 75% less energy than the average property of its size and the ranch runs on a gray water system.

Such a system means that water is recycled and purified by rain water before it comes back into the home. The water is filtered into two areas – one for showers and bathroom sinks and the other for toilets and kitchen sinks. The house is also very small by neighborhood standards at only 4,000 square feet.

Even, a tremendous change has also come in the human life as people are hardly taking care of the inventions of Mother Nature.

A tremendous change in our lifestyle, industrialization and the increasing number of high-rise buildings have also created a number of problems that were earlier not so big issue, but now has become one of the major concern that people are paying extra attention to solve. Yes, this rapid and sudden growth has also gifted us with the global warming and rapidly increasing carbon footprint.

Today, global warming, energy crisis and increasing carbon footprint are some of the main problems that should be solved very soon otherwise they may result in a great damage. However, everyone needs to just pay extra attention and spend a few minutes of their daily life. By doing so; definitely, the danger of global warming, energy crisis and carbon footprint can be reduced to a great level. In addition to this, you can also move an important step further to reduce the energy crisis and prospective dangers of global warming.

Start construction of green buildings or building environmental friendly houses is also a major step to solve the energy crisis. If you really want to reduce the bad impact of carbon footprint and paying extra attention to global warming, then bring green house architecture into being and also suggest others for this.

No doubt, the concept of eco-friendly buildings would be a great step towards the reduction of energy crisis and a safe environment. Today, corporate giants, industries, and even homeowners are also showing their interest in this new construction concept. Now, its impact can also be seen in the capital city of India, New Delhi.

Business and organizations as well as homeowners are also interested in green development in Delhi. Needless to say, people are really very conscious towards the green construction in Delhi. Now, a heavy influx of people can be seen in architectural department and offices of architectures for the map of building that should be eco-friendly and according the green development.

As we continue looking into how the concepts of a green economy will influence our future, there are numerous opportunities for those in real estate presented.

There is an excitement created when there are new topics for education for mortgage and real estate professionals. Core law and fair housing are crucial issues but now getting education with programs such as USBGC’s LEED and Green Real Estate Education certification programs, these sectors will better understand their place and how they can thrive and make money in the green revolution. This sector needs to learn and be offered specific information on green building, energy tax incentives, energy ratings and climate issues.

It doesn’t make sense to offer ‘green” educational programs that agents, inspectors or mortgage professionals can not afford to register for. This economy has hurt everyone’s pocketbook.

Forming alliances with “green” companies who want to expose their products and systems to those in the mortgage and real estate professionals can only create a win win situation. They in turn, can understand what is available for the clients they serve, the property owners. With the economic meltdown in the United States, the real estate industry is showing interest for new ways to reach their clients. Consumers want to know how to implement “green concepts” in their homes and into their lifestyles.

All professionals in the workforce need green education as much as their real estate agents and home inspectors.

Consumers today face astronomical utility bills, and global climate issues that were never a concern in the past. As a result, our quest for ways to ease our own “carbon footprint” which is how our lifestyles and the way we live greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere, and how this is more important than ever.

Green real estate evolves as well, fitting into these real estate fields as they continue to change with our lifestyles. The real estate professional is in an enviable position for promoting and facilitating change faster than any other profession. As a regular part of their profession, real estate professionals are called upon to recommend upgrades to properties that impact a future sale or value. This now must include recommending upgrades for energy efficiency, for improving indoor air quality, and for improving the health, safety and longevity of a building.

When the first industrial revolution took hold, people discovered that they could not only be witnesses to the leaps and bounds of progress, but could also carve their niche into the new day and age. Industries were created and innovative designs were implemented; lifestyles changed. On the up-side of these changes, new opportunities were created as new products were manufactured and processed. As the “Jet Age” became the “Space Age,” structures and building materials evolved as stronger and more dependable building materials were created — everything from sturdy plastics to velcro, to personal computers. No one could predict changes to come. Now these same concepts in advancement for new building techniques and concern for the environment are taking on a new level of awareness into the new age of green lifestyles.
